STRUCTURAL BIOINFORMATICS INC. ANNOUNCES
HIRING OF VICE PRESIDENT AND CHIEF FINANCIAL OFFICER
 

 SAN DIEGO, CA - March 2, 1998 - Structural Bioinformatics Inc., ("SBI") of San Diego, California, announced today that Ralph Barry has joined SBI as it Vice President and Chief Financial Officer. Mr. Barry will be responsible for the financial management of SBI as the Company prepares for a possible initial public offering in the near future.

Mr. Barry joins SBI from Imaging Technologies Corporation (Nasdaq: ITEC) where he served as its Vice President and Chief Financial Officer. Mr. Barry, a CPA, joined ITEC as Controller and Chief Accounting Officer, and Assistant Secretary in October 1993 and became Chief Financial Officer and Secretary in August 1995 and Vice President Finance in December 1996. Prior thereto, Mr. Barry served in the Washington, D.C. and San Diego offices of Price Waterhouse, LLP. since August 1989. Mr. Barry is a senior financial executive with experience in strategic planning, mergers and acquisitions, shareholder relations, SEC compliance, and international operations.

Structural Bioinformatics has developed a supercomputational operating system making possible the immediate and practical use of genomic (gene sequence) data in a broad range of structure-based drug discovery and design processes leading to the rapid design and identification of small molecule lead compounds. SBI is building corporate partnerships with pharmaceutical companies, gene discovery companies, and combinatorial chemistry companies ranging from broad technology collaborations to assistance with specific drug targets or target groups.
