Dr. Maggio is the former President and CEO of ImmunoPharmaceutics, Inc. (IPI), which developed a number of endothelin antagonists, including Texas Biotech Corp.’s (TBC) Sitaxsentan, now in Phase III trials. IPI was acquired by TBC in 1994. Dr. Maggio has been a founder and Board member of six public and private life science companies in the San Diego area. He received his Ph.D. from the University of Michigan and was an NIH Postdoctoral fellow at the UCSF Department of Pharmaceutical Chemistry. He is a member of the Board of Fellows of Polytechnic University, New York, serves on the Bioinformatics Advisory Board at Baylor University’s School of Engineering and Computer Science, and previously served on the UCSF Molecular Design Institute Advisory Board. Dr. Maggio has edited and coauthored a number of books, and scientific articles in the biotechnology area and is author of more than a dozen issued and pending U.S. and foreign patents.


Mr. Muth is responsible for sales, marketing, database production, drug research and development at SBI and its European subsidiary, SBI-Advanced Technologies A/S. Formerly, Mr. Muth served as Senior Vice President of Business Operations at NABI from 1996-2001, a $240 million fully integrated biopharmaceutical company. In that capacity, Mr. Muth directed all commercial operations worldwide and implemented the strategy which transitioned NABI from a plasma supplier into a fully integrated biotech company. During his term with NABI, he grew pharmaceutical product sales 40% compounded annually. Prior to this, Mr. Muth had a distinguished 17 year career with Johnson & Johnson in a variety of senior management assignments. He had positions of increasing responsibility spanning all commercial functions, including marketing research, sales, product management, new product development, and corporate development. In addition, Mr. Muth was responsible for the successful launch of three multi-hundred million dollar pharmaceutical products. Mr. Muth holds an MBA in Finance and an MBA in Pharmaceutical Marketing.


Dr. Ramnarayan is former head of Computational Chemistry at ImmunoPharmaceutics Inc., where he contributed to the design of highly active endothelin receptor antagonists, TNF antagonists, renin inhibitors, and vascular growth factor antagonists. Previously, Dr. Ramnarayan was a Senior NIH Research Associate at The Scripps Research Institute, La Jolla. He has authored numerous scientific papers on computational protein and peptide structure determination and protein structure-based drug design. He is also a co-inventor on U.S. Patent Application Ser. No. 08/100,565 covering small molecule endothelin receptor antagonists, one of which entered the clinic in October 1996. Dr. Ramnarayan holds a Ph.D. degree in Molecular Biophysics from the Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore.


Prior to joining SBI, Mr. Barry was Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of Imaging Technologies Corporation, where he also served as Controller and Chief Accounting Officer. Mr. Barry also worked in the Washington, D.C. and San Diego offices of Price Waterhouse, LLP., and he brings to the company valuable experience in strategic planning, mergers and acquisitions, shareholder relations, SEC compliance, and international operations.


Dr. Billingsley’s experience spans a diverse set of disciplines including computational chemistry, molecular quantum mechanics, molecular spectroscopy, chemical kinetics, and a wide array of sophisticated aerospace and defense system technologies and applications. As President of SBI-Moldyn, he manages business development and integration of various defense/aerospace technologies into innovative life science and medical applications. Dr. Billingsley is the former Senior Corporate Vice President and General Manager of Photon Research Associates (PRA) La Jolla CA. Prior to PRA, he held senior management positions with Ball Corporation, Analytic Decisions Inc., and the Air Force Geophysics Laboratory. Dr. Billingsley holds M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in Chemistry and Physical Chemistry, respectively, from the University of Virginia and an M.P.A. from Harvard University. He was a National Research Council Postdoctoral Fellow and has authored 30 peer reviewed scientific papers and over 50 technical reports for government organizations.
